Optimism reigned among Vancouver Canucks fans after their Game 1 victory over the Nashville Predators on Sunday, but that feeling could quickly be replaced by worry.

Indeed, the Canucks will have to do without the services of their star goaltender Thatcher Demko for the second duel against Nashville on Tuesday evening. He is bothered by an injury whose nature has not been revealed.

According to hockey informant Elliotte Friedman, the main interested party could even miss the rest of the series.

It will therefore be former Montreal Canadiens Casey DeSmith who should be in front of the Vancouver team’s net in the evening. The goalie has a 12-9-6 record, a 2.85 goals-against average and an .896 save percentage this season.

As for Demko, he made 22 saves in Sunday night’s win. In 51 matches of the most recent regular schedule, the American totaled 35 victories.
