Last Sunday, he made a strong impression on his very first Indycar start. Requested by the Arrow McLaren team, Théo Pourchaire managed to convert his 22nd place on the grid into a brilliant 11th position at the finish of the Long Beach Grand Prix, without making the slightest deviation in trajectory.

An impressive comeback for a rookie, illustrating an ability to adapt that he did not have the opportunity to demonstrate in Super Formula in Japan at the beginning of March. Obviously, the reigning GP2 champion indicated in his post-race reaction that he hoped to “come back in the future”, to confirm this remarkable baptism of fire.

From an urban route to a very hilly road circuit

His wish has just been granted, since his return will be effective in the almost immediate future, starting next weekend in Barber (Alabama). Indeed, the driver he replaced in Long Beach, in this case the American David Malukas, has still not recovered from a hand injury.

As a result, the Arrow McLaren team decided to once again entrust the No. 6 Chevrolet-powered car to the 20-year-old Frenchman. After having tamed the urban track of Long Beach, Théo Pourchaire could still shine on the Barber Motorsports Park, a magnificent, particularly hilly road circuit, taking on the appearance of a roller coaster with numerous fast turns negotiated blindly.
