You won’t be surprised to learn that Texas Republican Rep. Tony Gonzales, the man who made those comments Sunday on CNN, won’t win a popularity contest among his group’s radicals in the House of Representatives, including of course Gaetz and Good. The latter support far-right influencer Brandon Herrera, Gonzales’ opponent in the Republican primary for the 23rd district of Texas, the second round of which will take place on May 28.
Other House hardliners also announced their support for Herrera. The latter particularly gained attention by attacking Gonzales after the latter supported a bipartisan gun law in the wake of the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, which is in his district.
In short, we will return to this Texan primary around which the Republican discord is crystallizing these days.
