As is often the case, Hans Vanaken was one of the best Bruges players on the pitch against Borussia Dortmund. At 32, the Bruges captain remains the strong jersey of his team.
At Club Brugge, all positions are doubled except for playmaker. In case of injury to Vanaken, Nicky has no real solution to replace the Red Devil. The Blauw en Zwart coach could move Ferran Jutglà back or Hugo Vetlesen forward a notch, but that would only work for a short time.
Rarely injured
If Bruges has still not decided to recruit a replacement for Vanaken, it is simply because the latter is very rarely injured. The former Lokeren player takes care of his body, which allowed him to play matches without too many worries.
In any case, the years go by and Vanaken is not eternal. Bruges will have to find a successor for him in the coming months.
