As we reported earlier, the Columbus Blue Jackets are currently active on the trade market, actively seeking to acquire a forward, following the gaping hole left by the tragic death of Johnny Gaudreau at the beginning of the month.

While the DG Don Waddell has claimed to need to add a striker to his roster and has nearly $25 million available on his payroll, several possible options suddenly open up to him.

Following this announcement, the host Georges Laraque There was a big trade proposal between the Montreal Canadiens and the Blue Jackets.

On the airwaves of BPM Sports with his co-host Stephane GonzalezLaraque tried to find the offer that would convince Columbus to take Brendan Gallagher and the three years remaining on his contract, which pays him an average of $6.5 million per year.

After a few attempts, he finally agreed to offer a 1st round pick in 2025 (the one belonging to the Flames) in addition to hope Owen Beck in exchange for releasing Gallagher’s contract and freeing up nearly millions in the team’s payroll for the next few years.

  • Aged 32, Brendan Gallagher is a 5’9″/183lbs right winger selected in the 5th round (147th overall) of the 2010 draft. Last season, he compiled a record of 16 goals and 15 assists for a total of 31 points in 77 games.

Note that Gallagher has a no-movement clause that includes a partial no-trade clause in which he can list 6 teams where he would refuse to be traded.
