Barça and Granada go blow for blow – Liga – J24 – FC Barcelona-Granada (3-3)

FC Barcelona 3-3 Granada

Goals: Yamal (14e81e) & Lewandowski (63e) for Barça // R. Sánchez (43e), Pellistri (60e) & Miquel (66e)

Three goals, but one hell of a missed opportunity.

The day after Girona’s defeat against Real Madrid (4-0), Barça had the opportunity to come back to within three points of their Basque neighbor. But the Blaugrana had forgotten one detail for this: defending. Because if they scored three goals against Granada, they conceded as many in a breathtaking battle (3-3). The prodigy Lamine Yamal first opened the scoring by taking a cross from João Cancelo (1-0, 14e). Without a miraculous tackle from Martin Hongla at the feet of Robert Lewandowski, Barça would have made the break (41e), but it was Granada who equalized just before the break, by Ricard Sánchez (1-1, 43e).

Returning from the locker room, after a first attempt, Facundo Pellistri gave Granada the advantage by cutting a cross to the far post (1-2, 60e). But Lewandowski did not give his team time to doubt, quickly equalizing (2-2, 63e). Granada responded straight away with a header from Ignasi Miquel (2-3, 66e). In doubt, Barça then pushed: Fermín López was denied the equalizer for offside (79e), before Lamine Yamal released the Blaugrana of this trap (3-3, 81e).

That makes five goals this season for the 16-year-old striker.
