A few months after the sudden disappearance of Bernard Petit, mayor of Ichy, southern Seine-et-Marne has just lost the first councilor of another of its small villages. We learned this Friday January 24, 2025 the death of the mayor of the town of Guercheville, Pierre Augé.
This farmer, very involved in the defense of the land of his region, was at the head of the town hall which has only 272 inhabitants since 2014.
He succeeded Claudine Chardon, also a farmer, who remained mayor for nearly 20 years.
“This is sad news, tells us the president of the community of communes of Pays de Nemours Valérie Lacroute. He was someone who was very committed, and who found it important that farmers were represented in our municipal councils, even if he did not have a lot of time.”
-For his various commitments to agriculture but also to his commune, he was awarded the rank of officer.
The news is a shock to the village, and the question of his succession to the town hall now arises: “ The problem, in small villages, is that the mayor must be everywhere,” analyzes Ms. Lacroute.
