FC Nantes are close to signing a striker, but that could fall apart at the last minute.
Nantes could be close to making his first signing of the winter transfer window. They have made signing an international striker from DR Congo a priority. According to information from Foot Marketthe FC Nantes approaches Young Boys striker and Congolese international Meschak Elia.
-Discussions are said to be underway between the two clubs for a loan with or without a purchase obligation set at 2.5 million euros. The player profile has been approved by manager Antoine Kombouaré and owner Waldermar Kita, but recruitment manager Baptiste Drouet is said to be less enthusiastic.
The Team reports that all parties are in agreement on the transfer, but there is a sticking point over the potential obligation to buy the player at the end of the loan. The Canaries would not be satisfied with the mandatory option to buy the player and would like to remove the clause.
Elia has played for Young Boys since 2020, making 144 appearances and scoring 32 goals for the Swiss Super League club. The striker represented DR Congo on 50 occasions, scoring 11 times for the Leopards
