Sidelined for six months at OL, Anthony Lopes had a very bad time with the situation. The Portuguese goalkeeper is finding color in Nantes, where he signed in January as number one in place of Alban Lafont, but he is not forgetting anything.
Trained at Olympique Lyonnais, Anthony Lopes has the Rhone club in his heart and obviously, the situation in recent months has not been easy for the 34-year-old Portuguese goalkeeper. Sidelined in order to make room for the new starter Lucas Perri, the man who has nearly 500 professional matches with OL returned to the field and smiled by joining FC Nantes. The Canaries bet on him to replace Alban Lafont, who was dismissed and whose performances were considered insufficient.
“The hardest period of my career”
In an interview with Canal+, Anthony Lopes looked back on the difficult months he experienced in Lyon and how Nantes relaunched his career at the end of his career. “You learn at any age, but at 34 I learned patience. It was very hard, probably the hardest period of my sporting career. My sidelining? I'm not going to go into this too much, because I did an interview in L'Equipe where I knew I was going to put myself in danger. I wanted to create an electric shock within management, because no one came to speak to me directly. Now I have moved on to something else, even if Lyon will remain my favorite club where I spent 25 years” explains Anthony Lopes, who has now moved on by finding an important role at FC Nantes.
-“It's going very well, I've found the fields and the competition, which I was missing a lot. The welcome was really great, both from the group and the staff. I feel really important here, it’s up to me to repay the trust that was given to me” savors Anthony Lopes, who is preparing to return to his training club since next Sunday, OL will travel to La Beaujoire. A match which will inevitably be special for the Portuguese goalkeeper trained in the Rhône.
