PSG's victory in Lens brought three points after a tough fight but it also consolidated the Parisians' good lead at the top of Ligue 1 since all the competitors lost points.
PSG's trip to Lens promised to be tricky, as it has long been seen to what extent the Parisians were in tough conditions for an hour, but the victory snatched thanks to goals from Fabian Ruiz and Bradley Barcola was beautiful, less in the scenario since Paris frankly did not reach heights in the game. And with hindsight, it possibly marked a possible turning point in the race for the title.
While it was only the 18th day, the first of the return matches, PSG further increased its lead over its pursuers and in particular its runner-up, Olympique de Marseille. Despite a new penalty in their favor, OM could do no better than a draw (1-1) against Strasbourg, led by Emmanuel Emegha in great form. The Dutchman could even have given the Alsatians three points at the end of the match by hitting the post. But with this draw, Marseille is now nine points behind PSG, practically ten given the gap with the goal difference (+32 against +19).
-Marseille slowed down, Monaco did not advance any further and even lost in Montpellier this Friday evening, confirming that ASM had completely lost the title race. Third in the standings is now Lille, stunning winner of Nice (2-1) on Friday evening. Saturday evening, it was OL who confirmed their status as a tough team by being incapable of beating, and even quite simply dominating, Toulouse in the game.
