Nasser Al-Khelaïfi has “saved the French championship”, assures Aulas

Guest of the show Bartoli Time on RMC this Sunday, Jean-Michel Aulas praised the work of Nasser Al-Khelaïfi since his arrival at PSG in 2011. Despite the ultra-domination of the capital club on the national scene, the vice-president of the FFF recalls that the leader of QSI saved French .

While Nasser Al-Khelaïfi absorbs John Textor's punchlines during his interview in Rothen s'enflame, the president of PSG found strong support in the person of Jean-Michel Aulas. The vice-president of the French Football Federation recognizes that the weight of PSG “is enormous” in the French football landscape, but necessary to make it progress.

“Today, French football is organized in a centralized manner. The weight of PSG and Qatar is enormous, for lack of other solutions. This is the solution that allows the French championship to function and to have a team capable of winning the Champions League. I am convinced that PSG will succeed. This is a situation where PSG and Nasser (Al-Khelaïfi) are omnipresent. He is very competent,” assures Jean-Michel Aulas in the show Bartoli Time this Sunday on RMC.

“Nasser did well in the championship”

If he would not have used the words chosen by John Textor to describe the Qatari leader, the honorary president of OL remembers that a few years ago, he had a thought similar to that of the man of American business.

“15 years ago, I indicated that it was perhaps too dangerous to be too dependent on one club. Since then, things have been going well. Nasser has done well in the championship, he is president of the ECA. I held important positions for years. He is also at UEFA, very close to Aleksander Ceferin. He has skills which today allow us to ensure what he does for PSG and the championship (…) It is he, with beIN Sports, who saved the French championship.”

Is seeing PSG outrageously dominating Ligue 1 a problem? Jean-Michel Aulas uses the example of the implementation of the play-offs in the Arkema Premier League to support his remarks. “The competitiveness of a championship always has popular virtues. Everyone can have a certain number of ideas. Today, this is not the case in the French championship, fortunately. If Qatar, PSG and beIN were not present, we would have more difficulties.”
