Strasbourg: a major security system will be deployed around the Vélodrome

The French championship continues its journey. The eighteen clubs are on deck this weekend, on the occasion of the eighteenth day of Ligue 1. This Sunday, January 19 (8:45 p.m.), Olympique de Marseille will host Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace. The Bouches-du-Rhône Police Prefecture has announced the deployment of a major security system around the Vélodrome. 300 police officers as well as soldiers from the Sentinel mission will be present.

Smoke bombs are prohibited inside the Vélodrome

The Bouches-du-Rhône Police Prefecture also issued an order prohibiting “the carrying, transport, possession and use of pyrotechnic devices.” Olympique de Marseille is also asked to “strengthen its steward system to anticipate possible incidents in the stands”. As a reminder, a fight broke out between supporters of the Marseille club present in the south turn of the Vélodrome stadium during the round of 16 of the Coupe de France against Lille (1-1, 3 tab to 4).
