Mercato: Kvara spoke with Donnarumma before signing for PSG

Transferred from Naples for €70m, winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia explained upon his arrival that he had spoken about PSG with another well-known Neapolitan, Gianluigi Donnarumma.

PSG offered themselves the first blow of the winter transfer window with the resounding transfer of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for 70 million euros, plus five million bonuses. Already in the sights of PSG last summer, the 23-year-old Georgian was unable to join because his club had clearly refused. History changed this winter and Paris was able to afford the left winger much desired by Luis Enrique. This Friday, Kvara signed a four and a half year contract and then gave his first interview to the official website.

“I didn’t think much when I had the opportunity to come to Paris”

As often, the player expressed his “honor to be able to wear the PSG jersey”, “his great pride” to play for Paris, “ a dream » according to him, but also confide that he was simply “very happy”. Logical feelings for someone who admits that he has no “didn’t think much when (he) had the opportunity to come to Paris. The project is what convinced me to come here. I know what the club wants to achieve, and how they work with the players. It fits who I am, a lot of great players have played here. »

Two players already known within the PSG locker room

Within the PSG squad, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has already played with only one player, the former Neapolitan Fabian Ruiz, whom he met for a few weeks at the start of the 2022/2023 season. The Georgian had just arrived in Naples, the Spaniard was leaving, but Kvara revealed an unexpected friendly relationship that he sought before signing in Paris: “I know Gigio (Donnarumma), with whom I spoke before joining Paris Saint-Germain. »

Donnarumma, certainly trained at AC Milan, is a pure Neapolitan since he comes from Castellammare di Stabia in the suburbs of Naples, but the way in which the Italian goalkeeper and the Georgian winger got to know each other remains a little mystery since Gigio had already been a PSG player for a season when Fourth joined the Italian Serie A. While the transalpine goalkeeper is regularly announced as a possible departure for his country, he has in any case rendered a nice service to PSG by helping to convince the winger coveted by the club for months.
