At 25, Neymar arrived at PSG in the summer of 2017 with the status of top 3 in the world. He also finished in third place in the Ballon d'or rankings for the 2017 edition. At the same time, a young Kylian Mbappé, just 18 years old, joined the Paris Saint-Germain locker room with the Brazilian. Very quickly, the two players formed a close relationship which caused tension at times according to Neymar.

On the channel YouTube of the Brazilian icon Romario titled Romario TV, Neymar admits to having had some moments of friction with Kylian Mbappé to PSG, however, recognizing all the importance that the 2018 world champion had within the Parisian club, from his loan with compulsory purchase option of €180M agreed with the’AS Monaco in the summer of 2017. “Mbappé is not boring. I have things with him, we argued a little, but he was fundamental for us when he arrived.”

Following the interview, Neymar even reveals that he immediately found a flattering nickname for him with a dinner at his place in order to forge strong bonds from the start of their collaboration at PSG. “I used to call him 'Golden Boy.' I always played with him, I said he was going to become one of the best. I always helped him, I talked to him, he came to my house, we had dinner together.”
