“The match was very sluggish”
Enzo Hesry in the Talk on WebGirondins: ”Unlike Locminé, it's the opposite scenario, we are on the same physiognomy, but things are working for us. What you have to remember is that the match was very slow, we took a long time to get into the game. Bordeaux crossed the desert for 60 minutes. I was behind the Granville goalkeeper's goal, telling myself that, potentially, Bordeaux could attack hard. I saw almost nothing of the first half. I barely had to film anything because I had to make a video.
I had to wait until the second half to get some material. This means that this Bordeaux team did not attack much in this first period and was quite dull. We felt players who, beyond a certain physical fatigue, did not really have this motivation. In any case, they were not fully invested. I have the impression that sometimes they were perhaps even a little lost. They didn't really know which way to go, in which direction to go. Andy Carroll tried to move them a little. We played on him a lot, we saw him a lot. It was a lot of long balls, starting in particular from the right foot, left foot of Louveau. But it really wasn't necessarily a very well-constructed game. It’s true that Bordeaux is doing very, very well.”
Difficult to find Saint-Malo
He continues: “Second lesson, obviously, he is an accountant. We have Bordeaux which, today, has the same number of matches as Saint-Malo for the first time this season. We can actually compare them on a roughly fair basis. We are 8 points behind Saint-Malo. There are 16 games left to play. That means that in these 16 matches we have to have about 3 more wins than them to hope to get ahead of them. It's not necessarily going to be easy because, if Saint-Malo continues its momentum, they are in 14 matches, they have not lost a single match. It's a club that is extremely well structured.
We were able to see it with Laurent Crocis when we went to Saint-Malo. Compared to what we saw in Granville, it’s still a level above. It’s a club that has been working very well for several years. This shows on and off the field. They have a fairly large staff. They recruited yet another player who comes from Versailles. These are not insignificant recruits, far from it. We will have to fight.”
