After already the death of two motorcyclists who were killed on the road on Friday January 3, 2025 in Narbonne for the first, and in Paziols for the second, it is this time in the Lauragais sector that a new fatal accident of the traffic took place on Friday, January 10, at 10 p.m. According to our information, it concerns a 25-year-old motorist, residing in Castres (Tarn), who was driving towards the town of Cassès on the RD 1 117, when he lost control of his car and ended up his race against a plane tree. Very seriously injured in this accident, in which he was the only one involved, the twenty-year-old died from his injuries at the Toulouse hospital where he had been admitted.
Faced with this dramatic start to the year on the Aude roads, the gendarmes continue to be present along the main roads of the department. This was again the case during the week of Monday January 6 to Sunday January 12, during which the various units of the Aude gendarmerie group recorded no less than 113 various offenses. Regarding driving addiction, seven cases of driving under the influence of alcohol and eight under the influence of narcotics were noted. As for pedal-to-the-floor enthusiasts, 49 speeding incidents were recorded. Among the other offenses noted, there were seven driving without a license, failure to respect priority and use of the telephone while driving. Over the past week, the Aude gendarmes have detained 27 driving licenses, as well as two administrative impounds.
