Armed in particular with iron bars, they were, according to witnesses, well on their way to do battle. But the arrival on site of the national police visibly dissuaded them from taking action. Between thirty and forty young people were gathering this Saturday, around 6 p.m., rue de Torcy in Vaires-sur-Marne. A gathering which did not go unnoticed by local residents. This is how the police were alerted to what was going on.
If the young people quickly fled when the police arrived while getting rid of their weapons, since none were found by the police, the arrests were numerous to say the least. Twenty-one of them were arrested for alleged armed gathering. Because in the end, no injuries or victims were reported.
Of the twenty-one young people arrested, nineteen are minors. And seventeen come mainly from Vaires-sur-Marne and neighboring towns in the north of the department. All these adolescents or young adults were taken into police custody. Given their number, they were dispatched to several police stations, in Torcy, as well as in Villeparisis, Meaux and Chessy. Only two of the young people arrested, domiciled in Seine-Saint-Denis, were “repatriated” to a police station in their department, because they were minors.
With no victim and no weapon found, the armed gathering is currently not certain in the eyes of the Meaux public prosecutor's office. Nor even the potential brawl between young people from several cities, given the much greater number of young people from Vaires. The investigation was entrusted to the Torcy police station.
