The U19s of Saint-Germain and Olympique de experienced the same misfortune this Sunday, namely a premature elimination in the 32nd finals of the Gambardella Cup.

A “lottery” story. Two penalty shootouts were fatal to OM and Paris Saint-Germain this Sunday, in the Gambardella Cup. Olympique de Marseille defended their title this weekend, against , with a good number of players having participated in the coronation last season.

After a good start to the match, which should have led them to an easy success after twenty minutes (2-0), Christian Bracconi’s players were unable to capitalize on this advantage, and doubt set in.

OM conceded three goals after returning from the locker room (52nd, 57th, 75th). The late equalizer (89th) of its center forward Ugo Lamare El Kadmiri in this completely crazy match kept alive the hope of a qualification with forceps, but OM ended up cracking on penalties (3-3, 2-4 tab) .

New disappointment for PSG

Small consolation prize for OM: its Parisian rival experienced the same misfortune with a premature elimination. The PSG U19s fell against the small club of Maladrerie.

If Paris quickly returned to the score in the second half (48th) after being surprised just before the break (44th), a scenario identical to that of last season was repeated for Thomas Leyssalles’ players.

As inspired in regulation time as during the penalty shootout, which saw him repel two opposing attempts, the Parisian goalkeeper was unable to prevent the elimination of his team (1-1, 5-4 tab) , despite all these efforts made.

Paris had already lost after a penalty shootout against OM, future winner of the previous edition, last season, in the round of 16. PSG disappears this time in the 32nd finals.
