scores well in and gets ahead of Monaco

This Saturday evening, OM won in (1-2), came within four points of PSG (1st) and took a five-point lead over Monaco who completed the podium.

OM secured against Rennes this Saturday evening (1-2) and is four points behind PSG, first, who will face Saint-Étienne this Sunday evening. Kalimuendo opened the scoring for Rennes (43rd) but the lively Greenwood equalized before the break (45th). In the second half, international Rabiot gave his team the lead again (49th). The Rennais, for their part, are stalling and remain in 13th place.

A first act in two stages

If the supporters present this evening at Roazhon Park first witnessed an uneventful 30 minutes, where the Marseillais held the ball without finding a solution against a well-disciplined Rennes block, they were nevertheless entitled to a final quarter of hour of madness in this first act.

Indeed, the pace increased significantly in the last fifteen minutes. French striker Arnaud Kalimuendo first came up against Rulli on a penalty caused by Murillo (32nd), triggering this hitherto somewhat dull meeting. Author of a magnificent save, the Argentinian goalkeeper defeated the Breton striker, before the latter recovered and finally scored the first goal of the evening in the 43rd minute, on a sublime action initiated by Blas. A very short-lived advance. In the following action, Olympian striker Mason Greewnood, author of a very good match, allowed the Olympians to come back to the score (45th), well served by Murillo on the right side.

The Marseillais in control after returning from the locker room

Without being exceptional, the Olympians completed a very solid second period to win at Roazhon Park. Thanks to a well-placed header from Adrien Rabiot, served on a beautiful cross from Mason Greenwood (very good this evening), the Marseillais took the advantage as soon as they returned from the locker room (49th) and never let go of their lead. In the last forty minutes, Roberto De Zerbi’s men were never worried by Rennais, somewhat insipid without Arnaud Kalimuendo, replaced at half-time by Fofana.

The Phocaeans even continued to attack the Breton goal, but nevertheless came up against a solid Brice Samba for his first, which, despite his two goals conceded, is perhaps the only clearing on the Rennes side in this meeting.
