Bad news for Roberto De Zerbi ahead of the clash between OM and Rennes on Saturday.
Olympique de Marseille faces Stade Rennais on Sunday for the 17e day of Ligue 1. A match which should allow the Phocaeans to get even closer to Paris Saint-Germain. But Roberto De Zerbi and his men will not go to Brittany in the best mood.
Roberto De Zerbi deprived of Elye Wahi against Rennes
2e in Ligue 1, OM (33 pts) now finds itself 7 points behind PSG, leader with 40 pts. A gap that the Marseille club wishes to reduce considerably before the next meeting between the two teams. Following on from its overwhelming victory against Le Havre last Sunday (5-1), Olympique de Marseille will then have to win against Rennes this Saturday to continue their march towards the leader’s chair. Unfortunately for Roberto De Zerbi, he will not be able to count on all his players.

The OM coach will, in fact, be deprived of Elye Wahi, injured in the thigh and therefore forfeited for the trip to Rennes. According to information from RMC Sport, the young French striker should be absent for around 10 days. Thus, Elye Wahi will miss the clash against Rennes this Saturday and the round of 16 of the Coupe de France against Lille on Tuesday. The former Lensois could, however, make his return during the 18e day of Ligue 1 against Strasbourg on Sunday January 19, according to the media.

A huge setback for Elye Wahi who will therefore not be able to continue after his third goal of the season scored against Le Havre last Sunday. Trained in Montpellier, the Olympian striker has already lost his starting place in attack to Neal Maupay for several weeks. And his injury further complicates things.
