Already looking for a right back last summer, Olympique de Marseille was interested in Kiliann Sildillia. The Marseille club then reactivated the track leading to the Frenchman before the opening of the winter transfer window. But the file has been put aside and the versatile Freiburg defender is preparing to join another German team.
Olympique de Marseille quickly began its recruitment. At the request of his coach Roberto De Zerbi, the Olympian management is working to strengthen the rearguard. Central defender Luiz Felipe, released by Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, has already signed up with the Marseillais while waiting for the next recruits. We know that president Pablo Longoria and sports director Medhi Benatia are trying to buy a right back. This was already the objective last summer when the leaders notably targeted Kiliann Sildillia (22 years old).
OM skipped Sildillia
The trail leading to the Frenchman was unsuccessful. But this failure did not cool down Olympique de Marseille, which reopened the file for the winter transfer window, before dismissing it a few weeks ago. Last November, Foot Mercato told us that the Marseille club no longer planned to recruit the Frenchman. It was clearly not a simple bluff intended to unblock the negotiations with Fribourg. Olympique de Marseille has still not found its right back. But barring a last minute twist, it will not be Kiliann Sildillia who is preparing to join another Bundesliga team.
Indeed, L’Equipe journalist Loïc Tanzi indicates that the international Espoirs tricolor, coveted by other teams in Europe, is getting closer to an agreement with Wolfsburg. The operation would therefore be on track and the current second in Ligue 1 does not seem to be opposed to it. The decision of Olympique de Marseille perhaps comes from the requested price. The latest news was that Friborg was hoping to transfer their player for 12 million euros. He who has not started any championship match this season.
