The new PSG stadium in , a radar problem

The Parisian reveals that PSG are exploring options to build a future stadium, with club representatives recently visiting grounds in .

The Parc des Princes will soon be ancient history. PSG is determined to leave the enclosure that the town hall does not want to sell to them. Several sites were considered, in , in , but now also in Massy, in the greater suburbs. According to Le Parisien, two zones are envisaged:

  1. At ZAC from Bonde (72 ha): agricultural land located mainly in Massy, but also in Champlan and Chilly-Mazarin. However, the presence of an aerial radar limiting the height of buildings poses a problem. “A civil aviation radar is installed in the ZAC de la Bonde sector. It is used to guide planes landing and taking off on the runways ofOrly. This easement prohibits any construction of a building with a height greater than 40 m, which poses a problem for a sports venue,” underlines Le Parisien.
  2. The Tuileries shopping area (20 ha): a commercial wasteland to be reclassified, located nearby, with a project estimated between 100 and 200 million euros.

The land benefits from strategic accessibility thanks to its proximity to several road routes (A10, A6, N20) and railways (Massy- station with TGV, RER B and C, T12 tramway). However, the distance of 40 km from the PSG Campus in Poissy and the constraints linked to aerial radar complicate the project.

PSG remains discreet about its intentions, aware of the obstacles, opposition and delays that such a project could generate, while carefully evaluating its options to avoid a mistake in the long term.
