ASSE: Horneland found two unexpected big names in his squad

In post since the winter break on the bench of AS Saint-Étienne, Eirik Horneland already knows that he can rely on two players with flattering statistics to say the least.

Eirik Horneland will have his first full-scale test on the ASSE bench this Saturday against Stade de at Geoffroy-Guichard (5 p.m.). To do this, the new Greens coach will be deprived of the injured Yvann Maçon, Ben Old, Ibrahima Wadji and Thomas Monconduit. Yunis Abdelhamid and Ibrahim Sissoko will be suspended for this match on the 16th day of Ligue 1, while Mathis Amougou, in trouble with a calf, is doubtful. To console himself, Horneland can always say that he can count on two unexpected big names in his squad: the same Abdelhamid and Mickaël Nadé.

Nadé and Abdelhamid as leaders

According to the figures put forward by Opta, only Auxerrois Jubal (29), Nantais Douglas (25), Angevin Jordan Lefort (25) and Lensois Kévin Danso (23) have in fact blocked more balls this L1 season as the Moroccan from ASSE (22), tied with his former Reims teammate Emmanuel Agbadou. Nadé, expected to make his return to the Saint-Etienne group after his physical problems at the end of 2024, is for his part the best tackler in L1 this season, tied with Monegasque Mohammed Salisu. The two men have succeeded 100% of their attempts in this area since last August.
