A few after the surprise transfer of Brice Samba to Rennes (RIP Steve Mandanda), FC Nantes supporters were also entitled to their unexpected end-of-year file. The Canaries also welcome a new goalkeeper in the person of Anthony Lopes, released by Olympique Lyonnais. At 34, the Portuguese international arrives with all his experience for a six-month contract.
OL paid…
But for FC Nantes to be able to complete this signing of Anthony Lopes, it took a little decisive financial help from outside. Indeed, to allow the arrival of the Portuguese goalkeeper in Nantes, OL had to take out the checkbook. Les Gones paid the last months of their player's contract, which allowed the file to be unblocked. Until now, Anthony Lopes refused to leave until his club had honored the last months of salary of his current contract (June 2025).
Nantes wanted him last summer
Anthony Lopes and FC Nantes have been an open file since the 2024 summer transfer window. At the time, the Canaries were preparing the departure of Alban Lafont and wanted an experienced profile for the maintenance operation. Interested, Anthony Lopes had however put FC Nantes on hold, as long as his situation with OL was not resolved. A few months late, it is now done. Lyon paid and Nantes was able to sign him.
