When they resume, OL could have a hellish schedule until March

Resting for only a week, the OL players will not be idle when they resume. Between now and March 2, there would potentially be sixteen matches on the Lyonnais program.

They certainly wouldn't have said no to an extra week of rest. After the victory (1-2) against Feignies Aulnoyethe players of theOL quickly headed to vacation to take a breather. Only this rest will be short-lived, because Pierre Sage set the resumption for December 30. This week of vacation will pass quickly with the preparation of in the crosshairs (January 4, 9 p.m.). This match on the 16th day of Ligue 1 will mark the start of 2025 and the start of a two-month marathon for the Lyonnais.

This remains hypothetical for the moment, but between January 4 and March 2, the Rhone team could play sixteen matches. In the club offices, we hope that this total drops to fourteen, which would mean that theOL finished in the top 8 of the Europa League and therefore has no play-offs to play. This would clearly be good news, because the pace risks being frantic for French European clubs.

In January, OL will certainly play seven matches between Ligue 1, the Europa League and the Coupe de . The latter will also overload the schedule of Pierre Sage and his players in the event of qualification against Bourgoin. The round of 16 is scheduled for February 5 between a trip to and the reception of Reims. The quarter will be disputed on February 26 between the receptions of the PSG and of Brest. The Europa League play-offs will be played on February 13 and 20. With sixteen matches in two months, that would be a rate of one match every 3.5 days. With less European play-offs, it would be half a day saved…
