After the dismissal of Olivier Dall'Oglio, the leaders of theAS Saint-Étienne turned towards Eirik Hornelandthe former Norwegian coach of SK Fireto take back the reins of the team. A strong tribute to Dall'Oglio

Olivier Dall'Oglio was dismissed after a disappointing start to the season, despite his feat of bringing the team back to Ligue 1 last season. The leaders paid him a nice tribute via a press release which highlights his main achievement, underlining his status as an emblematic coach for the club. However, a permeable defense and a silent attack did not allow Dall'Oglio to keep the Greens in the hoped-for classification zone.

Horneland, a pragmatic choice

Avant la trêve, Eirik Horneland quickly took over. This Norwegian coach enjoys an excellent reputation in his country for having allowed SK Brann to move up to the first division and obtain unexpected results. His high-level experience and his ability to get the best out of modest players speak in his favor to revive Saint-Étienne.

Camara, a choice of the heart

More Frédéric Piquionneformer Greens striker, campaigned for the appointment of Zoumana Camara, his former teammate trained at the club. Camara then played for Inter Milan, , and Leeds before returning to Saint-Étienne in 2004. He has since built a solid reputation as a coachnotably at Saint-Germain where he developed young talents, a profile sought after by the Stéphanois.

Two distinct profiles

If Horneland brings his experience at a high level, Camara knows the club and its training center perfectly. Frédéric Piquionne I estimate that Camara “checks all the boxes of the project” and denounces the choice of“foreign coaches while you have everything on site”. It remains to be seen whether the future will prove Saint-Etienne leaders right, a matter to be continued…
