A departure from LOSC? Bixente Lizarazu believes “there is no rush” for Jonathan David

1998 world champion, Bixente Lizarazu has never strayed far from the field. Asked about Jonathan David's current affairs and his future, he invites him not to skip the steps.

Jonathan David (24 years old), author of 17 goals and 5 assists in 26 matches played in all competitions this season, is the player that all supporters would like to be able to keep a little longer in the North. Its future has been agitating the French and international media for several weeks, even months. It must be said that the Canadian, third top scorer in the history of LOSC, sees his contract tirelessly approaching its end: June 2025. He could thus, within six months, benefit from a free departure to experience a new adventure.

Other options are also available to him, such as the one which leads to a contract extension. Jonathan David also has an offer for two additional years, an offer made by the Lille club.

Asked about it, Bixente Lizarazu was frank. He believes that the Canadian could still benefit from the healthy environment around LOSC to progress in front of everyone: “I find that he is in a very healthy club with a president who is used to choosing the right moment, both for the club and for the player, in good understanding, to leave. He did this recently with Leny Yoro who joined Manchester United. I think there's no hurryjudges the 1998 world champion. He is in the Champions League, has crossed the hundred goal mark. He is a complete striker and when the time is right, he will know it. There, I find that he is in a great club to continue to progress. It is only now reaching maturity.”he declares on the set of the show Téléfoot this Sunday.
