RC – PSG: Luis Enrique would have a new Zidane in his locker room

Author of a huge first part of the season, PSG right-back Achraf Hakimi is compared to Zinédine Zidane in Morocco for his calm and composed character while being a group leader.

This evening, the clash of the 32nd finals of the Coupe de will pit RC against PSG in Bollaert (9 p.m.). Luis Enrique should not rotate too much for the occasion. Achraf Hakimi should therefore be established in his right-back position. Which is all the more understandable since Le Parisien specifies that he has been involved in 20% of his team's goals since the start of the season. Wednesday in Monaco (4-2), he was once again very visible, hitting the post on a cross-shot and delivering an assist on Désiré Doué's opener. A performance which made it even more incomprehensible that he was not elected African player of the year…

“The Moroccan Zidane”

In as in Morocco, Hakimi is adored as former Atlas Lions international Abdelaziz Bennij explained to Le Parisien: “It’s simple, Hakimi is the idol of everyone in the country. Rarely has a defender achieved this popularity rating. Normally, it is the attackers, the number 10s, the creators who attract the sympathy of the public. But he, beyond the handyman costume that he puts on on the field, also has this personality that seduces people. We saw him at the World Cup, at the Olympic Games too, where he was an exemplary captain. That's why everyone loves him. His humility, his personality make him a bit like the Moroccan Zidane, a guy who is both discreet and capable of leaving his mark on a group.” Quite a compliment!
