Loaned to West Ham where he integrated very well and became a starter, Carlos Soler could definitely become a Hammer over the winter. The London club has been active in this direction recently.
Yet regularly suffering greatly in Ligue 1 during his two years spent in Paris, Carlos Soler lives again in the Premier League under the colors of West Ham. After a short period of adaptation, the 27-year-old Spanish midfielder became a starter for the Hammers, an irregular team stuck in the second half of the table. In a team lacking talent and consistency, the player loaned by PSG appears to be a safe bet.
So much so that West Ham has even already started discussions with PSG regarding a possible permanent transfer according to information from the newspaper Le Parisien. Soler's loan was completed in the last hours of the summer transfer window and the presence of a purchase option had been announced then denied and was ultimately never made official, probably because it was subject to conditions. Sources in England mentioned one a few weeks ago and Le Parisien confirms in today's edition that a purchase option for an amount of 20 million euros is indeed present.
West Ham opened negotiations
According to the regional newspaper, West Ham has approached PSG in recent weeks on this subject, the Londoners already being rather convinced by the player, but a lot of steps will still have to be taken before this loan is transformed into a permanent transfer. The matter would rather be resolved after the winter transfer window than before or during it, while there remains one important variable: the player.
Carlos Soler is very happy in London and he explained it recently in the Spanish press but he has not made any commitment regarding his future with the Hammers either. The question of his salary, estimated at 6 million euros gross per year, represents a big investment even for an English club but he also knows that he has no future in Paris since Luis Enrique would not count on him if he came back at the end of his loan.
In short, the matter seems well underway regarding a definitive departure but we will have to monitor an important point, namely the presence of the Spanish coach of West Ham Julen Lopetegui. It was he who was behind the arrival of Soler and it was he who made him an important element of his team, to the detriment of a major player like Lucas Paqueta. If Lopetegui were to be dismissed, as regularly mentioned, his successor would not necessarily give the same importance to the player under contract with PSG until 2027. But with this successful loan, Soler in any case increases his rating after two complicated seasons at Paris.
