As the winter transfer window approaches, rumors about potential recruits for Olympique de Marseille are pouring in. With mixed performances in the defensive sector in particular, certain consultants and specialists have identified the position in which OM absolutely must strengthen.
Second in the championship after 15 days, Roberto De Zerbi's men remain fully in line with their objectives of direct qualification for the Champions League next season. However, if there is one sector where the Olympians seem to be fond of since the start of the season it is the defensive sector and in particular at the central defender position. A position which, according to former French international goalkeeper (1 selection) Lionnel Charbonnier is the one that Marseille leaders should look into in the event of recruitment this winter.
“Recruiting during the winter transfer window is very complicated…”
Now a consultant for RMC, the former Auxerre player therefore gave his opinion on potential movements in the Marseille squad:
« Recruiting in the winter transfer window is very complicatedwow (…) Is OM in a dynamic where it absolutely must recruit? I'm not sure… If they do it, it's with a pinch of salt. I think there is a key word today at OM in recruitment: balance! (…) If you really have an opportunity and it doesn't cost you much, ok (…) For me, if there is a real opportunity to be had, it's in the axis, behind. »
While waiting for the start of the winter transfer window, the Olympians have one last match to negotiate, on Geoffroy Guichard's pitch, in the Coupe de France, in order to conclude this calendar year well.
