Papin has found a new challenge in the south!

Anything new for JPP? In conflict with Ali Zarrak at Olympique de Marseille while he manages the National 3 team, the former 1991 Ballon d'Or could well turn the page in Marseille to relaunch in a professional club. As the newspaper reveals ProvenceJean-Pierre Papin would have started discussions with FC Martigues, in great difficulty in Ligue 2 and who are looking for a replacement for Thierry Laurey, recently dismissed from his position as coach. The agreement could allow Papin to take over as head of the team from the start of 2025.

A complicated challenge

If the discussions between Martegal President Pierre Wantiez and Jean-Pierre Papin seem well underway, a few details remain to be resolved before formalization, as the newspaper states. Papin will have to deal with budgetary constraints, notably preventing the recruitment of players during the transfer window. His position being weakened at Olympique de Marseille, he should have no trouble putting an end to his Marseille adventure to offer himself a new, exciting challenge, but which promises to be complicated. Martigues are currently last in the Ligue 2 championship with nine points from 16 games.
