A sparkling start to the season

Professional pass in April 2023 and extended until 2026, Amougou was quickly thrown into the deep end. Starting the first four days, he impressed with his ability to play forward. His performances even attracted the attention of Bayer Leverkusenready to pay nearly 10 million euros to secure his services. But the Saint-Etienne leaders, convinced of its potential, refused to sell it.

An unexpected stoppage

Unfortunately, since its promising beginnings, Amougou experienced a less good blow. His performances gradually deteriorated, and he lost his starting place, remaining on the bench for the last seven matches. Several factors could explain this stoppage, in particular the pressure inherent to his recent performances, but also the discussions around his contract extension which could weigh.

A future to negotiate

The Saint-Etienne leaders wish to secure the future of their nugget by offering him an extension until 2029, with a tripled salary and attractive bonuses. However, Amougou hesitates, aware of his potential and the interests of prestigious clubs. He would prefer a shorter extension, of just two years. Negotiations will continue in the coming weeks, leaving uncertainty surrounding the future of this promising young talent.
