Always a pleasure.
Vincent Labrune, sulphurous boss of French football, speaks in the columns of Parisianthis Thursday, to discuss a bunch of subjects. Starting obviously with the flopesque TV rights of Ligue 1, which are, for example, half those of the Bundesliga: “We cannot compare Italy, Spain, Germany, England which have a strong football culture with Francereplies the president of the LFP. To summarize, we discovered football in 1998. But I believe that there is a fair price which probably seems to me to be a little higher than what we have today. […] All our revenue centers are growing strongly, except domestic TV rights. »
“Out of three people who watch Ligue 1, only one pays”
A country of footix, therefore, and a country which has not accepted the arrival of DAZN and its prices at 30 euros per month. “My salary? I understand that it may be shocking”
In this interview, Vinz throws flowers at himself (“we are not going to take away my record between 2020 and 2023: having saved French football from the most serious crisis in its history”), and justifies his gluttonous salary, today estimated at a little more than 800,000 euros per year (he even earned 1.2 million annually a few months ago), not to mention his bonus of 3 million received in the framework of the agreement signed between the League and CVC: « It’s a lot of money, let me be very clear. I understand that it may shock. But these sums are commensurate with the investment, the stakes and the amounts raised. And above all, it is the decision of the board of directors and its members who are sovereign. »
Ah ok, everything is fine actually!
