A former ASSE player finds himself in a very bad position in his new club, after hitting one of his teammates. Explanations.
Vagner Dias (ex-ASSE) already excluded from his new club
Arriving from FC Batuque, Vagner Dias remained under contract at ASSE for three seasons, from 2017 to 2020. Despite a few appearances, he never really managed to establish himself in Ligue 1 with the professional group and above all played in the Green jersey during matches with the reserve team. During his stay, the Cape Verdean winger also made two loans to AS Nancy Lorraine in Ligue 2, during which he was in the best form of his career with 14 goals scored. Vagner Dias then joined FC Metz for a sum of around three million euros excluding bonuses. ASSE had in fact taken advantage of the good performances of its player on loan to sell him at a time when his rating was at its highest.
This summer, Vagner Dias joined Polish first division club Radomiak Radom. In ten matches in all competitions this season, he has not been decisive once. However, he has been noticed recently for the wrong reasons. During a training session last week, the former ASSE player hit striker Rafal Wolski, one of his teammates. The Polish media Weszlo speaks of a blow dealt while his counterpart “turned his back” on him, for an “insignificant matter”. Wolski could not even defend himself and ended up losing consciousness.
This affair should in any case mark the end of the Polish adventure for Vagner Dias. Left out of the group during this weekend’s match against Śląsk Wrocław, the Cape Verdean no longer fits into his club’s plans at all. Radomiak Radom has in fact taken legal action regarding him and wishes to terminate his contract, which runs until June 2026.
