No, the Super League is not dead. While Florentino Pérez still hopes that his competition will see the light of day, A22, its promoter, today unveiled the new format of the tournament. There will be 96 clubs divided into four leagues and access will be by ranking in the national leagues. The Higher League will have 16 clubs with home and away matches. A22, in application of the favorable judgment rendered a year ago by the Court of Justice of the European Union, sent a 20-page letter to UEFA so that it recognizes the competition, UEFA and the FIFA being obliged to recognize “any competition whose ranking is carried out in an inclusive, meritocratic manner and which respects the world calendar“.
Now it’s time for the UNIFY League!
First of all, the Super League is over, now it's time for the UNIFY League, UNIFY being a streaming platform which will offer two formulas: a free formula with advertisements and the other paid with fewer advertisements. Highlights and summaries, match analyzes and exclusive content from each club and each of its stars will also be offered while for the paid version, subscribers will be entitled to advanced features such as the selection of cameras to follow the match, live statistics and other interactive options.
From a format point of view, ranking in the national leagues will establish entry into each of the four categories of the competition: Star, Gold, Blue and Union. 96 teams will therefore be divided into four categories. In the first two, sixteen teams divided into two groups of eight and in the other two, we will be allowed 32 participants. What’s next? A quarter-final, return, a single semi-final on neutral ground and the final.
