Still in the recovery phase after his very long Achilles tendon injury, Presnel Kimpembe has not yet been included on a match sheet this season. After PSG's success against OL (3-1) this Sunday, Luis Enrique spoke about the situation around his defender.
Arriving at PSG in the summer of 2023, Luis Enrique was never able to count on Presnel Kimpembe. Absent since February 2023, the defender (29 years old) is still in the recovery phase after his very long Achilles tendon injury. After the victory against OL this Sunday in Ligue 1, the Spanish technician spoke about his player.
“The truth is that I don’t know when he will come back,” admitted Luis Enrique at a press conference. Since returning to training in October, Kimpembe has yet to appear on a match sheet. “I love it when players come back from injury. Training is the best weapon to see what condition they are in.”
Kimpembe has entered the mixed zone
Sunday evening, Presnel Kimpembe still made an appearance in the mixed zone when Ousmane Dembélé, scorer against Les Gones, was responding to journalists. “He's good, for real. He's good,” repeated the winger, referring to the physical state of his teammate, hoping for his return as quickly as possible. “He’s going to come back strong.”
Presnel Kimpembe was included in an extended group for the trip to Munich, against Bayern in the Champions League on November 26, but more in a role of locker room leader. At the end of 2024, PSG still has two deadlines, with a trip to Monaco this Wednesday in the championship and a 32nd final of the Coupe de France in Lens this Sunday.
