Manchester City announces the death of a supporter during the derby against United

This Monday, Manchester City announced that one of its supporters died on Sunday during the Manchester United reception.

The Skyblues are in mourning. The day after the stunning defeat in the derby against Manchester United (1-2), the English champion announced the death of a supporter “after a medical incident” during the match against the Red Devils on Sunday. “The thoughts of everyone at the club are with his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time,” Manchester City said in a statement.

A champion in crisis

On the pitch, times are tough for Pep Guardiola's team, which this Sunday conceded its eighth defeat in the last eleven matches in all competitions. The four-time reigning English champions may have thought they had hit rock bottom, but the Red Devils made their case even worse at the Etihad, especially after leading 1-0 until the 88th minute.

Enough to leave Pep Guardiola facing a bitter realization: “I'm not good enough”, admitted the Spanish technician after the defeat in the derby. “I am the boss, the manager, I have to find solutions and so far I have not done it,” he continued. “It's a big club. When you lose eight games out of eleven, something is wrong. What can I say? The schedule is tough, the players injured? No. We want to play better, create chances, but at the moment it is not possible. We are giving away goals, it is our fault. The results are not good.

In the standings, Manchester City remains stuck in fifth place (27 pts), nine lengths behind leader Liverpool (36 pts), who played one match less.
