Author of an assist in Marseille this Saturday, Rémy Cabella further increased his lead in the ranking of active assists in Ligue 1.
“When we are not able to make the difference in the game, it is the small details, like in these phases of play, that make the difference”underlined Bafodé Diakité this Saturday, following the draw (1-1) by LOSC in Marseille as part of the fifteenth day of Ligue 1. Trailing by a pawn for many minutes, the Mastiffs obtained a point from their trip thanks to a late achievement, the eleventh, from the Lille defender. The latter, on a free kick, jumped higher than everyone to place an unstoppable header (87′).
This set piece was kicked by Rémy Cabella (34), who entered the game a few minutes earlier (81′). On a pitch he loves, he found his partner perfectly in the area to distribute his 46th assist (15 with MHSC, 7 with OM, 10 with ASSE and 14 with LOSC) in the elite. This total is the most important for a player currently playing in Ligue 1. The Lille player is ahead of Téji Savanier (41), with whom he fights a long-distance duel: three assists on one side and the other after the first fifteen days championship.
“It’s been a while since we scored from a set piece, so it feels good”also declared Bafodé Diakité at the final whistle. Rémy Cabella, however, allowed LOSC, who have scored 8 of their 25 goals from set-pieces this season in Ligue 1, to increase their domination in the field. Only Brest (10) has more goals scored in these phases of play.
