Jorge Mendes spoke this Monday about a possible extension of Lamine Yamal at FC Barcelona. The famous agent confirmed his protégé's desire to sign up for the long term with the Catalan club where he started.
Courtiers of Lamine Yamal, go your way. Despite a contract until June 2026, the new phenomenon of world football is not expected to leave Barça anytime soon. If the Catalan club has already had to face covetousness for its prodigy, if we rely on the words of Joan Laporta denied by PSG, his future should be written well in Barcelona. On the sidelines of the Golden Boy gala where he won the title of best representative of the year, Jorge Mendes spoke this Monday about the future of Lamine Yamal.
“Of course he will extend with Barça,” said the famous agent from Italy. “Lamine, he’s from Barça.”

Yamal has been dealing with injuries since October
An indisputable starter this season under Hans-Dieter Flick, the 17-year-old winger has had a string of great performances in recent months with already 6 goals and 12 assists in 21 appearances. Successor to Jude Bellingham on the Golden Boy trophy list, the Spaniard has however experienced several small setbacks since the start of the 2024-2025 campaign.
After a first ankle injury which kept him away from the field for almost a month, Lamine Yamal was injured again this Sunday during Barça's home defeat against Leganes (0-1). Hit in a tackle by former Stéphanois Yvan Neyou, victim of racist insults, the Catalan will-o'-the-wisp should still miss between three weeks and a month. But as for his long-term extension with the Catalan club, Jorge Mendes wanted to reassure the fans of his young protégé.
“Now he will recover,” said the Portuguese super agent. “It’s something he’ll quickly recover from.”
