At a press conference, before the meeting in Toulouse, Olivier Dall'Oglio and Ibrahim Sissoko presented themselves to journalists. While there was talk of commenting on the end of the ASSE-OM meeting, Sissoko reacted. Misunderstood remarks which gave rise to a misunderstanding which the player returns to.
No fewer than 450 pyrotechnic devices were set off last Sunday, during the match between AS Saint-Étienne and Olympique de Marseille (0-2). Magic Fans were celebrating 20 years of the Avant-Garde, one of the group's factions. This impressive use of smoke bombs and smoke pots, particularly at the end of the match, led to an interruption of several minutes from the start of added time, due to a thick cloud which hampered visibility on the pitch and in the stands.
At a press conference, Olivier Dall'Oglio and Ibrahim Sissoko were questioned about this stoppage of play. The Greens scorer expressed his annoyance: “Interruptions following smoke bombs? It's annoying, clearly. It's annoying. We stop for three, five minutes waiting. We don't know what we're waiting for. So no, it's annoying. Already, that's it cuts off the match. And what’s more, it pisses everyone off.”
Sissoko: “My answer was about the feeling during stoppage time”
Equivocal comments which were taken, in particular by our media, as a reproach aimed at Saint-Etienne supporters. It was absolutely nothing of the sort. Only the fact that the meeting was stopped was pointed out as an unpleasant situation by Ibrahim Sissoko who wanted to clarify his statement in order to remove the slightest doubt about the fact that he had accused the supporters.
Via an Instagram story, the player declares: “To clarify the misunderstandings following my conference: my response focused on the feeling during stoppages in play, in no case on the pyro or the animations, which are the strength and richness of our stands. I think you know my commitment for ASSE, for our colors and for the people who make this club live, from inside or outside.
The controversy is closed.
