The young Alexi Koum, recruited this summer by Marseille and entered play for the first time in Ligue 1, last Sunday in Saint-Etienne, was keen to speak after the match against the group. A moment captured in the intimacy of the Olympian locker room.
An evening he will remember for a long time. Last Sunday during OM's victory at Saint-Etienne (0-2), Alexi Koum was launched by Roberto De Zerbi into the deep end of Ligue 1. The young left back, who entered at the end of the match at the place of Quentin Merlin (79th), took his courage in both hands and asked to speak in the Marseille locker room after the match.
“It’s my first in Ligue 1. Very happy to have done it with you. It’s a pleasure, and congratulations for the victory,” he says in front of the group with the shyness of his 18 years.
An element of the future for OM
Trained at AJ Auxerre, Koum was recruited this summer by the Olympian management, who saw in him an element of the future and offered him a first professional contract. Originally from the Paris region, he joined the training center of the Burgundian club in 2021 after passing through Brétigny (Essonne).
From U16 to U19, he was part of all the international selections for young French players. This weekend, Alexi Koum took advantage of the absence of Ulisses Garcia, usual number 2 at left back, to join the professional group.
