Recruited in 2023 as a promising nugget, Ernest Nuamah, 21-year-old Ghanaian striker, could already leave Olympique Lyonnais.

Between disappointing performances and financial imperatives, the club is seriously considering a sale in the winter transfer market, a decision which could mark a turning point for OL in search of recovery, according to Foot Market. Arriving for around 25 million euros from FC Nordsjælland via a financial package involving the Belgian club Molenbeek, the Ghana international was presented as a major reinforcement for the attack. But his debut at Lyon did not meet expectations: in 33 appearances in all competitions, he only scored 3 goals and provided 2 assists.

Nuamah on his way to England

Having started only twice in Ligue 1 this season, he has failed to find the net. Supplanted in the hierarchy by several elements, Nuamah struggles to convince. His performances in the Europa League, where he signed a single assist against Qarabag, were not enough to revive his momentum. Despite his difficulties in Lyon, he maintains a good rating on the market. Premier League clubs like Crystal Palace, Fulham and Everton are closely monitoring his situation. Already coveted by Fulham last summer, he chose to stay in Lyon, but current circumstances could encourage him to review his position.

For Olympique Lyonnais, faced with financial difficulties and the threat of administrative relegation to Ligue 2, the sale of Nuamah seems inevitable. The market value of the Ghanaian striker is estimated at 18 million euros. This transfer would make it possible to recover liquidity. However, the drop in its value complicates a transaction at the price hoped for by managers. Under contract until 2028, he retains a say in his future. But OL considers his departure as a necessity to create room for maneuver for the next recruitment.
