Before OM travel to ASSE next Sunday, the coach Roberto DeZerbi recorded significant reinforcement. The guardian Ruben Blanco is back.
OM: Ruben Blanco has returned to training, good news for De Zerbi
Injured in the ankle last August, Ruben Blanco had to undergo an operation which kept him away from the field for several months. The absence of the Spanish goalkeeper was a hard blow for Olympique de Marseille, who parted ways with Paul Lopez during the last summer transfer window. But a glimmer of hope has just appeared on the horizon.
Indeed, the 29-year-old goalkeeper has returned to training with the reserve team, according to images posted on social networks. This news is very encouraging, because it suggests an imminent return to competition for Ruben Blanco. His comeback comes a few days before Olympique Marseille travels to Saint-Étienne, counting for the 14th day of Ligue 1.
Even if Ruben Blanco is very likely to be part of Roberto De Zerbi's group for the ASSE-OM clash, it is unlikely that he will start this season due to the good performances of Geronimo Rulli. However, his presence in the group will already be a plus for the Marseille squad.
The return of Ruben Blanco is a relief for OM, faced with several withdrawals in this first part of the season. Faris Moumbagna and Valentin Carboni are still in the infirmary.
