the rant of the CUP on the departure of the Parc des Princes

Saint-Germain will leave the Parc des Princes, Nasser al-Khelaïfi assures us. During the inauguration of the PSG Campus, the club's new training center, the Qatari president reaffirmed his desire to build a new stadium while the Paris town hall refuses to sell the Parc des Princes to the French champions and QSI : “I really like the Parc des Princes, everyone loves it. If I decide with my heart, I say: “we are not leaving”. But when I think with my head, we are dead, coward. In Europe, all the big clubs have 80,000 or 90,000 seats. If we want to be of this level for our supporters, we must expand the stadium. We have no other solution. If it's done? We're going to leave. We have no choice. The city leaves us no choice. It's a city decision because we can't do what we want in the stadium“, he said at the microphone of RMC Sport.

“We can’t bring ourselves to do it”

Statements which inevitably saddened all lovers of the Parc des Princes, starting with the Collectif Ultras Paris. The latter banged their fists on the table, confirming the fact that they do not wish to leave their traditional stadium: “Recent announcements as sudden as they are clumsy confirm the club's decision to leave the Parc des Princes. The deadlock between the club's leaders and the town hall is such that this outcome seems more and more realistic. We can't bring ourselves to do it, but it's never too late. As supporters, we want to stay at the Park. This stadium is our home, the place where we have experienced everything, moments of happiness and disillusionment. A departure would constitute a major break with the DNA and history of the club, a real tear. It is also, and above all, a matter of passion and transmission. Identity, too. Paris SG has its own, forever inseparable from the Park. How can we imagine the main Parisian club playing outside the capital, even a few kilometers away? When Paris SG wins, the entire city of Paris and its region wins, when the Parc des Princes is the scene of exploits, passions and victories, the entire city of Paris shines brightly“, we can read in the first part of the press release.

Subsequently, the CUP looks at the different possibilities, such as the expansion of the enclosure, by calling on the Paris town hall to open the dialogue again to consider work: “There are serious solutions to modernize and expand the Park, let's focus on that. Our hope is that the different parties resume dialogue without delay with a view to finding a solution that is beneficial for all. Apart from the transfer that the town hall held out to the club for a certain time, avenues exist which would allow the city to remain the owner of this monument of public heritage and the club to ensure its development: a very long-term lease for a moderate rent, financing by the town hall of all or part of the work, the possibility for PARIS SG to use neighboring spaces commercially…”, they add, before asserting that they will not be the generation to say goodbye to the Park.

“We will mobilize, peacefully, but firmly”

We therefore ask the president of PSG, Mr. Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, to consider our position. We call on the Mayor of Paris, Ms. Hidalgo, and the various components of the Municipal Council to finally officially transmit to the club's management an acceptable long-term lease proposal which would allow an expansion of the stadium which would accompany the growth of the club. We are alerting future candidates for City Hall to this subject which should be taken very seriously from now on. We will mobilize, peacefully, but firmly, and we call on all Paris Saint-Germain lovers to join us during our next actions at the Parc des Princes and in Paris. We will not be the generation of supporters who saw PARIS SG leave Paris and its Parc des Princes“. The message has the merit of being clear.
