In an interview with Foot-National, Bruno Irlesthe coach of the Girondins de Bordeaux, addressed the financial constraints that the club must face, while discussing the prospects for development of the squad. Placed under the close surveillance of the DNCG and the Commercial Court due to its legal recovery situation, the Bordeaux club must “respect the decisions of the court and the DNCG” in its management.
Strict control of the payroll
Bruno Irles pointed out that “the payroll of the Girondins de Bordeaux has been supervised since the start of the season”. This financial constraint imposes clear limits on player movements, prohibiting any excessive spending. However, despite these restrictions, the coach indicated that “the squad will be able to evolve without paying a player outrageously and going outside the box”suggesting the possibility of welcoming new reinforcements in the form of loans.
Recruitment outlook in January
While recognizing that his “recruitment is not finished”, Bruno Irles spoke about the prospects for the winter transfer window. “In January, the squad could be reinforced by one or two players”he declared, thus underlining the club's desire to continue its sporting reconstruction. This phase of “construction” aims to achieve a “cruising pace” hoped for the month of February, according to the coach's words.
Interim assessment and sporting ambitions
Despite the challenges the club faces, Bruno Irles has drawn up a positive assessment of the first months of the season. “We are progressing well because we have laid the foundations in terms of state of mind”he said, emphasizing the importance of daily work with his staff. This positive dynamic translates into encouraging results, allowing the Girondins to “win matches to get closer to the top of the table”in accordance with the sporting ambitions of the club.
