This incredible asset of Saint-Etienne, much envied in Ligue 1

L’ASSE conceded yet another defeat away this season in Ligue 1sinking 5-0 on the lawn of Stade Rennais. But for Fabien Lemoineformer midfielder of Saint-Etiennethe Greens will always be able to get out of this.

Fabien Lemoine's prediction for ASSE

In an interview given to Square PostsFabien Lemoine, former ASSE midfielder, spoke about the current situation of the Greens. The former Stéphanois is rather optimistic about the future of the club. After a complicated start to the season, marked by up-and-down results, the Greens managed to turn things around thanks to solid performances at home.

“Fortunately Sainté has kept the points counter ticking since then thanks to his 4 victories in the Cauldron. Fortunately Sainté is winning at home because away from home, the Greens are having a lot more trouble. They still had the merit of snatching a point from Beaujoire even though they were off to a very poor start during this meeting”he noted.

The importance of Geoffroy-Guichard

The former ASSE player also praised the performance of the Saint-Etienne midfielder: “For several matches, the midfielder has done a lot of good for the team. Bouchouari, Mouton and Ekwah are very interesting”analyzed Fabien Lemoine. He particularly highlighted the talent of Bouchouari, whom he compares to Verratti.

According to the former Forézien, the twelfth man plays a vital role in the good results of ASSE, whose lethal weapon seems to be his mythical lair: “ASSE has a huge asset that many clubs envy: Geoffroy-Guichard. When you have more than 30,000 fervent supporters supporting you, it helps. At the very beginning, perhaps some players were trembling a little when they played in the Cauldron but there, they took on the atmosphere of Ligue 1”.

A promising Kilmer project

Regarding the Kilmer Sports Ventures project, the new owner, Lemoine is rather positive: “I think it’s nice that Kilmer hasn’t changed everything. They brought their guys but still kept the people who know the club”he assured. He believes that the new owner is taking the time to get to know the club and its environment well.

The former Stéphanois concludes by affirming that ASSE has the means to remain in Ligue 1: “I see Sainté holding on, I’m not going to say easily, but quite easily”. He also underlines the importance of staying the course to ensure a peaceful future for the club.
