Good news for Djibril Diaw, Andy Carroll has ignored his “gentleman agreement”

This evening, the Girondins de offered themselves a 32nd final of the Coupe de by beating Les Herbiers Vendée Foot with a clear score of 2-0. While playing his first match of the season, after more than two months without playing due to not having his license validated, Djibril Diaw, playing a good match, had to come out at the end of the second half. While we thought it was a strain or a tear, it ended up being just cramps, as confided Bruno Irles to Forever at the end of the match.

“It's his first, and even though he spends two months training with us, he doesn't finish, it's cramps… There's nothing that replaces competition. To prepare for the competition, we need competition. We didn’t have it at the start of the season, and we’re happy to have it today.”

The Bordeaux coach also revealed that, as since his arrival, Andy Carroll could very well have not played this Cup match. There was in fact a gentleman's agreement between the club and the England international.

“He hadn’t played for two weekends too. If we want him to be operational next week, he had to play. Of course, there is a gentleman's agreement with him so that he can also spend time with his family during the Cup matches. But he knows that the priority is the championship, and to do well in the championship, he had to play this match today”
