HSC – LOSC: A new promotion at DAZN, 365 days from the end?

In a year, exactly, DAZN will be able to decide or not the end of its joint adventure with French at the end of next season. At the same time, as an attempt to rebound, a new promotional offer was made.

“The clock is ticking, the minutes are scorching. And I dream of speeding up time! »sang Mickaël Miro in 2011 in his title The clock is ticking. A visionary, the artist had perhaps perceived before anyone else the difficulties that would be encountered DAZNofficial broadcaster of Ligue 1, upon its arrival in the French football audiovisual market. On December 1, the British platform will be able, in the same way as the Professional Football League, to announce its early departure if it does not reach 1.5 million subscribers. This termination of the 2024-2029 broadcast contract is made possible by an exit clause integrated into the initial contract. To date, this threshold is far from being reached. As recalled The Teamonly a third of the objective has been met. Insufficient.

Former manager of Canal+from 1984 to 2002, Pierre Lescure expressed his incomprehension regarding the choices made by DAZN :
“It always bothers me when a new broadcaster shows up on a major sporting event and presents fairly modest means and little tricks that add nothing. It's nice to use familiarity, but in this case, we don't care. We expect something else, a form of service provided, that we get what we pay for. […] I'm not a pirate at heart, so I subscribed to DAZN. But I will have no loyalty »he confided, in part, to the French sports daily.

A new promotion

For several weeks, DAZN has made an about-face by modifying its pricing strategy. Three and a half months ago, its one-year subscription with commitment was sold at the price of €29.99. This amount, which was nevertheless “the right price”has since been revised downwards to €19.99 then to €14.99 per month over one year in recent days following a new promotion as part of Black Friday. This price is applied to the “unlimited” subscription (with one-year commitment) from Friday November 29 to Monday December 2, 2024.
