Last summer, OM tried to recruit Andreas Pereira, the Brazilian international playmaker from Fulham. An interest on the part of Marseille that the player himself recognized in a recent interview.
Looking for a playmaker during the last summer transfer window, Olympique de Marseille had set its sights on Valentin Carboni, on loan from Inter Milan and whose season is over after his cruciate ligament rupture. But before completing the signing of the Argentinian international, OM were also interested in Andrea Pereira, a 28-year-old Brazilian playmaker playing at Fulham. Called up during the last meeting with the Seleçao, the player has been a sure value in the Premier League for years, whether with Manchester United or Fulham, even if he also made a few stops with Lazio or Flamengo.
Andreas Pereira's appeal to OM
In an interview with the Premier League Brasil website, Andreas Pereira admitted that OM made him an offer last summer and that he really liked this destination. “There was an offer from Marseille, we discussed, but unfortunately it didn’t work out. In the last days of the transfer window, there was also an offer from Nottingham Forest. These are the clubs that were closest to my signing. OM? That would have been really cool, considering the way De Zerbi plays football” explained Andreas Pereira before concluding.
“I saw this interest positively, but we will now see in January or at the end of the season if there will be a transfer or if I will stay at Fulham” said the Brazilian star, who does not hide his desire at the idea of joining Roberto De Zerbi's project at OM. At a time when Carboni is now out and while Amine Harit is blowing hot and cold, Olympique de Marseille could recruit a playmaker against all odds in January. The question now is to see if Andreas Pereira is still on the shelves of Roberto De Zerbi and Mehdi Benatia and above all, if this potential transfer is financially feasible while the Brazilian number 7 still has a year and a half of contract with Fulham .
