While FC Nantes travels to Paris on Saturday evening (8:45 p.m.) for the 12th day of Ligue 1, Canaries supporters remain confused and still do not know if they will be able to go to the Parc des Princes.
This is going to be debated and the situation is confusing and vague. While the authorities organized a meeting this week with the idea of prohibiting the travel of FC Nantes supporters for the match against PSG, on D-1 of the match the order from the Paris Police Prefecture does not mention not a ban on entering the Parc des Princes for Nantes fans. Just not to call yourself a “FC Nantes supporter” within a defined perimeter around the stadium. This decree can be consulted by everyone on the prefecture website. But the zone of the decree now concerns the den of PSG, as in many Ligue 1 matches, throughout the season.
A situation that is all the more confusing, without any ministerial order
In addition, no decree from the Ministry of the Interior was published this morning in the official journal on this Ligue 1 match. Clearly, everything is unclear for Nantes fans. The ministerial decree is always published the day before the meeting to be applicable the next day. An even more surprising case, if the authorities had not banned the movement of Nantes fans, this morning no order governing Nantes supporters was published on the sites used by state representatives…
Clearly, the usual process is not respected. The Prefecture's decree does not resemble those normally published for travel bans on opposing supporters. And no trace of a decree from the Ministry of the Interior in the Official Journal. Technically, nothing prevents FC Nantes supporters from coming to the Paris region.
In a press release, FC Nantes reacted, estimating that “the Hauts-de-Seine Prefecture has issued an order to prohibit the presence of supporters in a perimeter around the Parc des Princes, this Saturday, on the occasion of the match which will pit Paris SG against FC Nantes. Concretely, the club therefore believes that its supporters are not welcome at the Park this Saturday.
